Day 19: Flying to Cape Town

The wedding seems to have come and gone very quickly and today everyone started going their separate ways. Some of Matt’s family returned home to Benoni and his work friends flew to Port Elizabeth to start traveling along the Garden Route (in the opposite direction to us). The rest of us (eighteen including Matt and Lita) caught a flight from Lanseria (the closest to Askari) to Cape Town where we will be spending the last few days of our holiday.

Arriving in Cape Town and hiring yet another car felt a bit like déjà vu, as this is where we started our South African journey just under three weeks ago. For the next five nights Noz, Shammy, Hannah, Kat and I are staying in a hostel called the Ashanti Lodge in central Cape Town, while the rest of the group will be in nearby Stellenbosch. We checked in and then walked to the closest restaurant we buy cialis online could find – Nelson’s Eye. I’m assured that they do excellent steaks – the vegetarian platter was also very nice!

Just before going to bed we popped into the hostel bar for a glass of Amarula (a cream liqueur with fruit from the marula tree). We were soon persuaded to join the killer pool tournament and ended up having a few more drinks than expected, especially Shammy (see photo)!

    Hi Howie,
Loving the blog and the photos. I love the kudu; they are a little like the impala I think. It looks really maginicent out there and the wedding photos were beautiful. The photo of Table Mountain brought back memories – it’s only 56 years since I was there! I expect you will be going up it and hope it hasn’t got its’ tablecloth on when you do. Paul and Isabel are here and we are all following the blog – Izzy (as we now have to call her!) is looking at it on her iPad. Another person followiing it avidly is Mr T!
The weather looks so good. Still milder here but VERY wet and severe flooding in many parts of the country.
Well you have only got a couple of days before your return. Get ready for Jingle Bells and tinsel etc – it’s manic here! We couldn’t move in Sainsbury’s this morning!
It will be good to see you soon especially as we didn’t think we would. The world was supposed to end at 11.11 am today!
I shall look forward to seeing the Cape Town photos tomorrow.
    Hi to the girls.
    Love Mum xx

We have followed your travel blog with great interest, and we are delighted that you are having such a good time. The loss of your PC and the other items was a great pity, but they can always be replaced. More serious, perhaps, is the loss of any data, but we hope that your excellent pictures were still safely in your camera (or backed up). Their quality is amazing – I can almost count the leaves on the trees. The 2000+ pictures you have taken will provide many happy memories for you. Please remember me to those of your travelling companions who care to remember me, particularly those who either came to our party in College in 2008, or who were on a Noizy journey to Cardiff to watch a football match! We wish you and all your friends in South Africa a very Happy Christmas, and hope that next year will give you all you hope for.

    With love,

    Dad & Sue
